AHG Expo 2017 review: Debbie derails event
At the end of March, Karo and 250 other businesses attended the Keno Australasian Hospitality and Gaming Expo (AHG) in Brisbane. It was expected to be a great event, but as it tends to do, Mother Nature had other plans.
Although we enjoyed engaging with existing and new customers alike, most people had their minds elsewhere as Cyclone Debbie hit the North Queensland coast.
Cyclone Debbie affects AHG Expo
A large number of registered attendees from North Queensland decided to stay home and protect their properties, meaning that attendance was well down on previous years. As Cyclone Debbie made its way south towards Brisbane, organisers made the decision to close the expo three hours early so everyone could prepare for potential flooding and poor weather.
Due to the severe weather event (Cyclone Debbie), the Keno AHG Expo 2017 will be closing today at 12.30pm,… https://t.co/pnv8miaQI5

Overall, this meant that there were fewer visitors to the expo on both days – leading to a quieter event for everyone. In fact, many people who wanted to check out our range of gaming stools didn’t make the expo due to Cyclone Debbie.
For those who did make the expo, there were still a few notable highlights that we’d like to share with you.
Karo at AHG Expo 2017
We presented our range of VIP gaming stools at the expo – specifically the Monte Carlo, Platinum, Jupiter, Neptune and Pegasus. As the crowds were smaller, we were able to spend more time with the customers who were present.
Our Platinum and upgraded Monte Carlo stools on our EZI-GLIDE Disc base were certainly highlights that generated extremely favourable responses. The Monte Carlo stools now feature a quick-release seat, flexi backrest, improved glue-free upholstery and an upgraded handle.
Expo guests provided us with good feedback in regards to these improvements. This makes us more confident that these gaming stools will be valuable to hotels, clubs and bars across Australia.
Karo’s plans for 2018?
The 2017 AHG Expo might have been hampered by Cyclone Debbie, but this hasn’t put us off coming back next year. The show is always a great success and we are looking forward to returning to Queensland in 2018.
We also would like to extend our best wishes to both expo exhibitors and guests as the clean-up from Cyclone Debbie continues.
